The researcher Pere Vilàs, recognized for his study of corsairism in Pitiusas, was unanimously awarded the Gold Medal of the city of Ibiza. The self-taught historian of 80 years has a long history made up of nine books, in addition to multiple collaborations in other informative and specialized volumes, conferences and collaborations in the press. His activity as a historian led him to form part of the board of Club Náutico Ibiza and the Institute of Ibiza Studies (IEE). MARIO RIERA WINS THE FIRST PITIUSAS LETTERS AWARDS

The writer Mario Riera starred in the first edition of the Pitiusas Letters Awards by winning two awards, held in Sa Nostra Sala de Ibiza on 20 of June. The author received the trophy for the best work of Poetry in Catalan or Spanish for 'Tríptic de mar i terra’ and his ‘Variations of the year in prints’ earned him the title of the best short narrative work in Catalan.
