BERNAT JOAN PRESENTS HIS 'STEPANAKERT’

Last 16 of November, the writer Bernat Joan presented his new book ‘STEPANAKERT. HEART OF POMEGRANATE‘ at the headquarters of the gastronomic and cultural association of Sant Antoni, Sa Xacota de Portmany. With this short piece, the author Menció d'Honor of the Institute of Eivissencs Studies publishes his second work of the year with Edicions Aïllades and the fourth book of the collection farce, dedicated to theater.

Joan announced that she was inspired by the air attack on the theater in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol to write this work that reflects on the bestial and human parts of wars.. The playwright also recognized the influence of other ethnic conflicts such as those that occurred in the Caucasus region.. The author explained that the title ‘Stepanakert’ refers to the capital of Nagorno Karabagh, a disputed territorial entity between Armenia and Azerbaijan and to which Joan has traveled. de hecho, various characters and scenes in the story are based on specific people and situations that the writer knew firsthand.

As an accompaniment to the author, The editor Ramon Mayol intervened, who praised the relaxed atmosphere of the venue for the presentation, and Juanjo Ferrer, actor and founding member of Sa Xacota de Portmany. Ferrer recalled that the work is the second book that Joan has launched in the association and highlighted the structure of the piece, which is divided into three acts to symbolize the past, the present and future of wars.

The premiere of ‘Stepanakert’ on the stages will take place in the Cas Serres auditorium the 20 November at 20 horas.
