READING CLUB WITH DOMINICK DUNNE

The Santa Eulària des Riu Reading Club meets 15 years and celebrates it with an online session, which takes place on tuesday 3 November at 20:30 horas, from the novel by Dominick Dunne: A season in purgatory. An entertaining read where different characters appear in a universe created around a dark and rich character: Gerarld Bradley.

Dominick Dunne (1925-2009) born in Hartford, Connecticut, in the bosom of an Irish and Catholic family. After fighting in the Second World War, he worked for television, first in New York and then in Hollywood, where he would rub shoulders with the biggest stars of the fifties and sixties, thus becoming a film producer. At the end of the seventies his addictions led him to leave the world of cinema and write his first book. He achieved success as a writer with the publication of the novel The Two Grenville Ladies. (1985; Asteroid Books, 2015), success that would be increased five years later with an inopportune woman (1990). Although his true fame came to him as a society commentator on Vanity Fair and a chronicler of some of the most famous trials in the United States., like that of the American football star O. J. Simpson. His long relationship with Vanity Fair began when the magazine invited him to present his reflections on the murder of his daughter., which later led him to start a column that mixed gossip about high society and exclusives about controversial judicial processes. His literary work also includes the novels People Like Us (1988) and a season in purgatory (1993).
