DISCOVERING MAJORCA: 4 LITERARY ROUTES AROUND THE ISLAND

A couple of weeks ago we talked about the initiative ‘Walking on Words’. This project consists of literary routes through Mallorca created by the Mallorca Literària Foundation to find out information about the island related to writers and literary works. In today's article we will propose four more routes to learn more literary curiosities about Mallorca this summer

Literary landscapes of Tramuntana

The bay of Sóller

This route takes us through one of the most outstanding landscapes of the island: the Tramuntana mountains. The tour takes us through those places in the mountains that stand out for their literary representation: from Pollença and Formentor to Sóller, the square of Campanet, the children's lecture, the olive trees of Caimari, the Torrent de Pareis and, By last, the port of Sóller with its bay, an undeniably beautiful landscape.

Landscapes and poetics

This route takes us through those landscapes that have witnessed the history of Mallorca's literature.. In Santanyi, thanks to the inspiration of Blai Bonet, Numerous writers gathered together to form a fundamental creative group to recover Mallorcan literature during the Franco era.. The landscape of this route is the inspiration of great authors from Mallorca: Bonet, Michael Bauçà, Josep Maria Llompart, damià huguet, Maria Antònia Salvà and even Ramon Llull.

Santanyí

Literary landscapes of the Levant

The Levante route focuses on its capital, the city of Manacor, in which writing has flourished. This tour takes us both through the city itself and its center and through the fields and natural landscapes that surround it., opening us to panoramic views of the coast that have been settings and inspiration in the literature of Mallorca.

Oral culture in the Pla

The last route of 'Walking on Words'’ focuses on oral culture, essential in the creation and transmission of Mallorcan literature. For it, brings us closer to the Pla region, in the center of the island, following the trail of the Popular Songbook. From Sant Joan and its Museum of the Word to Algaida, The tour brings us closer to the island's own voice, to your tongue, to their culture.
