This work makes a sensitive portrait
throughout the years, Balearic writers and, specific, of the Pitiusas Islands have been slowly recovered to claim and show the world the cultural and literary wealth of the Islands. But where are the women writers? Is there really not enough literary quality in the field of women's literature? Edicions Aïllades presents “With woman's letter”, a volume where it is intended to recover and make visible thirty authors born or settled in the Pitiusas Islands who have contributed and still contribute to demonstrating the artistic and literary quality of Ibiza and Formentera.
The book, that begins with the recovery and vindication of the importance of Victorina Ferrer Saldaña, first well-known Ibizan writer and very important in her time, constitutes a summary of the current female literary panorama of the Pitiusas Islands, with voices from different fields (philology, teaching, journalism, science, etc.) who have stood up for the dignity and equality of women, respect, education and the importance of the role of women in society.
“With woman's letter”, coordinated by Teresa Navarro and with illustrations by Paloma Miguel, dedicates a chapter to each of the chosen authors. The interesting? It is these contemporary authors themselves who explain, with your voice, from his individuality and in the first person, his literary journey. This is also significant: a space is not only provided for the visibility of these female voices, but it is encouraged that they are the ones who express themselves; the book is a megaphone where these voices are amplified. Además, the book includes several fragments of the work of each author that they themselves have chosen, both narrative and poetry and theater, so that Con Letra de dona allows us to discover these wonderful writers and find new interesting literary works that excite us and permeate us as readers..
The idea behind the book is simple.: although from a female perspectiveA, literature written by women deals with totally universal themes with which any human being can identify regardless of their gender. thus, “Amb lletra de dona” is a much needed book: On the one hand, demonstrates the variety and quality, often hidden, of the literature of the Pitiusas; y, for another, shows that the literature, In the end, it is a human and universal issue in which we can all participate, as readers and as writers, regardless of our gender.
