INTERVIEW WITH MARIA TERESA FERRER (1ª parte)

The Balearic Cultural Work of Formentera (OCBF) organized last month the VII Trobada Entre Illes, which was attended by Pitius writers of the level of Carles Fabregat, Bartomeu Ribes or Esteve Portas. That is why we have spoken by phone with the president of the entity and poet Maria Teresa Ferrer. The result of the conversation will be presented in two halves: the first will deal with her cultural activism and the second, his most literary facet.

INTERVIEW WITH JOSÉ M: What work does the OCBF do??

INTERVIEW WITH JOSÉ M: It is the cultural entity of reference in Formentera and we have been working 45 years defending our traditions and our language. Además, we have a moral duty to preserve the territory from uncontrolled urbanization as a way of protecting our identity, which is more threatened than ever.

The second installment of Miranda was presented at the Institut d'Estudis Eivissencs in February

P: In February the second issue of Miranda magazine was presented. Tell us about the creation process.

R: It took us a long time to get this copy out.. Does 20 years, after the first edition, the OCBF board prepared a second, but it was abandoned for other projects. So I took it as a challenge. I have had to do a lot of work because in Ibiza and Formentera it is difficult for us to have initiative. I have to thank the linguistic correction of Ivan Solivellas, who is the delegate of Platform for Language in the Balearic Islands. Without him this number would not have come out as a tribute to Vicent Serra Ferrer (Vincent Blai).

P: La Trobada Entre Illes is a literary event in the Pitiusas. How did the idea come about?

R: Nora Albert and I started it because the artists from the two islands have very little contact and we are almost always the ones from Formentera who go to Ibiza. Being from such a small island gives you this need to communicate and attract people. That is why we have managed to make the OCBF known in Mallorca, Catalonia and Valencia.

his unwavering faith in God and the numerous trips that brought him into contact with diverse cultures and to settle in Santa Eulària
